The past 12 months have seen a number of unexpected terms enter our collective lexicon when it comes to our skin. ‘Maskne’, ‘iso skin’ and ‘Zoom face’ are just a few of the common pandemic-induced skin woes we encountered in 2020, but those who endured mandatory hotel quarantine – such as Nicole Trunfio – experienced an entirely unique set of circumstances when it came to their complexions.
Trunfio, who spent two weeks confined to a hotel room as part of Australia’s strict international arrival policy, was one such traveller who found herself navigating a few skin changes. So what does a model do when faced with a less-than-luminous complexion? Enlist her “skin genie” Melanie Grant, skin expert for Chanel and facialist extraordinaire to Trunfio and many of her A-list contemporaries, including Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Phoebe Tonkin.
Grant’s prescription? An intensive facial with a focus on restoring moisture to depleted skin, which Trunfio could do herself with one of Grant’s convenient at-home facial kits. “The Complete Hydrating Kit was selected for Nicole to hydrate and restore her skin following a long haul flight and two weeks of air-conditioned hotel quarantine,” Grant tells GRAZIA.
