Harpers Bazaar Australia · 11 best LED face masks to tackle wrinkles, acne and more for glowing skin from home

LED light therapy can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns, depending on the types of LED lights used. They can increase collagen production for more youthful looking skin, help to manage and reduce acne breakouts, and aid in fading hyperpigmentation and signs of visible ageing including wrinkles and fine lines.

“I’ve been working with LED for over a decade and to this day I’m still impressed with the results it can offer in the way of brightening, clarifying, soothing, healing and above all, plump and firming the skin, and all without any downtime,” says Melanie Grant, the official skin expert for Chanel, who is a supporter of the benefits offered by at-home LED devices.

“LED devices use a variety of wavelengths to target the skin at multiple depths to stimulate cell regeneration, boost intercellular communication and stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen. It’s a perfect pairing for more corrective services like laser and deeper peels, as well as a stand-alone treatment — and a beautifully relaxing one at that.”

The key to using at-home LED masks though — the same as with in-salon LED treatments — is consistency. If you don’t use your mask frequently, you’re unlikely to see results, so make sure the LED light therapy device you choose is one you’re happy to use a few times a week (or however often the manufacturer’s instructions recommend).
